The Song that Broke the Thread covers the final moments of an Imioura from the 12th generation. After partially resurrecting his sister using a spell too high to cast, this bard was desperate to fully bring her back, even if that meant using the forbidden energy uncovered by Polycrates: Threadroot. Character Pictured: Orion. — Lyrics: [Verse 1] You were the light in a house gone cold, A sister’s smile I could never hold. I begged the stars, I begged the dawn, But the day you died, the world moved on. So I reached for magic I didn’t know, A child’s prayer in a winter snow. I called your soul from the river’s bend— You woke again, but you did not mend. [Pre‑Chorus] I hid the truth behind my grin, Said hope was something we could win. But every breath you fought to take Was one more crack I couldn’t shake. [Chorus] I sang to the heavens, I sang to the ground, I begged every god just to turn you around. But the thread was breaking, the weave undone— And I was losing you, one by one. So I stole the ruin, I stole the night, I carved a prayer in desperate light. If love was poison, then let it spread— This is the song that broke the thread. [Verse 2] Your daughter’s laugh was a fragile thing, A borrowed note on a broken string. I held her close, I held her tight, Pretending I could make it right. But the truth kept whispering in my chest, That your second life was not a rest. Your soul was tilted, your shadow wrong— And I was running out of song. [Pre‑Chorus] I prayed to gods who never came, To stars that never spoke your name. But one voice answered in the green— A serpent’s truth I’d never seen. [Rap Section] (Yeah) Memory slipping like sand in my fist, Name on my tongue but it’s fading to mist. Green in my veins and it’s burning me through, I’m losing myself but I’m doing it for you. Ritual rising, the rune in your skin, I thought I could save you, I let the dark in. Voices are calling, they’re not who I knew— But I’ll tear apart fate if it brings me to you. [Bridge] The lute cracked open in my hands, Echoes spilling like falling sand. I tried to show them what I’d seen— The sea of glass, the fractured green. But my body failed, my voice grew thin, The chimera in my blood caved in. And as the world began to blur, My last thought was still of her. [Final Chorus] I sang to the heavens, I sang to the ground, I begged every god just to turn you around. But the thread was breaking, the weave undone— And I was losing you, one by one. So I stole the ruin, I stole the night, I carved a prayer in desperate light. If love was poison, then let it spread— This is the song that broke the thread. [Outro] I believed in heroes. I believed in you. And even as I vanished… I hoped you knew. — Based on the Asteris universe, the backdrop behind the Odyssey of the Imioura campaign. Character portrait created using Canva Dream Lab.
