K-dramas went from being Korean television shows to becoming a global cultural phenomenon. But could Nollywood do the same? In this episode of Annyeonghaseyo Naija, we sit down with a guest for a deep, honest and sometimes uncomfortable conversation about Nollywood and the K-drama industry. We compare the two industries — from storytelling and production quality to actors, funding, distribution, marketing, international audiences, government and industry structures, cultural identity and the way each country exports its stories to the world. But the biggest question is: Can Nollywood become the next K-drama? Nigeria has an enormous pool of talent, stories, culture and creativity. Korea has shown how entertainment can become more than entertainment — it can become a powerful vehicle for culture, tourism, fashion, food and global influence. So what would it actually take for Nollywood to achieve a similar level of global reach? And should Nollywood even try to follow the K-drama model? Maybe the answer isn't to become the next K-drama, but to figure out what Nollywood can learn from Korea while creating its own uniquely Nigerian global formula. We're talking Nollywood, K-dramas, storytelling, the Nigerian entertainment industry, Korean entertainment, global audiences and the future of African entertainment. This isn't a Korea vs Nigeria competition. It's a conversation about what happens when two entertainment industries meet — and what they can learn from each other. 👇🏾 Now we want to hear from you: Do you think Nollywood can become a global entertainment powerhouse like K-dramas? And if yes, what is the ONE thing Nollywood needs to change or improve first? Drop your thoughts in the comments. #korean #nollywood #kdrama #kdramaedit
