When the buffalo demon Mahishasura, proud of his boon that no god or man could kill him, conquered heaven, the combined power of Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and all the gods took form as a Goddess in Sage Katyayana's hermitage. She came to be known as Katyayani. Armed with the gods' weapons and riding a lion, she defeated Mahishasura and became Mahishasuramardini, a victory that is remembered on Vijayadashami (Dussehra). In the Bhagavata Purana, the gopis of Braj also worshipped Maa Katyayani on the banks of the Yamuna, praying for Lord Krishna as their husband. Om Devi Katyayanyai Namah (chant 108 times) 💐 KATYAYANI MANTRA (sung by the gopis of Braj) 🌼 ABOUT MAA KATYAYANI Form: Sixth of the Navdurga Day: Navratri Day 6 (Shashthi) Other names: Mahishasuramardini, Adhishthatri Devi of Braj Appearance: Golden radiant form, four arms Holds: Sword and lotus, with hands in abhaya and varada mudra Vahan (Mount): Lion Chakra: Ajna (Third Eye Chakra) Bhog: Honey Flowers: Red flowers, especially red roses 🪔 SIMPLE POOJA VIDHI 1.
