Who Invented the Touchscreen? It Started Decades Before the iPhone.

Who really invented the touchscreen? Not Steve Jobs. Decades before the iPhone launched in 2007, E.A. Johnson built capacitive touch for UK air traffic control in 1965, George Samuel Hurst discovered resistive touch by accident in 1971, and CERN ran a touchscreen control room for over 30 years. Then came the HP-150, the IBM Simon (the first touchscreen smartphone), and FingerWorks, the multi-touch gesture company Apple quietly bought in 2005. This is the untold history of touchscreen technology and the forgotten inventors behind the iPhone's biggest feature. Which name surprised you most?
