This is an amazing ride that should not be missed. We chose the Robert Campbell Highway to get off the more crowded Alaskan Hwy, get further north in the Yukon, ride dirt in route to Dawson City and the Top of the World Hwy. RC Hwy is named after a nineteenth-century Scottish farmer, fur trader and explorer. Today’s RC Hwy follows much of the same route as Campbell when he explored the area from the Liard River watershed northwest (Watson lake) to the Yukon watershed (Carmack & Dawson) in 1840. Riding this epic wilderness road takes you through one of Yukon’s least populated, remote regions. You may experience glimpses of wild animals and mountain range through the trees at the edge of the road. The largest portion of the RC Hwy is gravel. The condition of the road can vary dramatically according to recent weather and maintenance or lack there of. The RC Hwy is paved from Faro to Carmack.
