Nadira Banu Begum (1618–1659) was not just a princess — she was the devoted wife of Dara Shikoh, Shah Jahan's favourite son and rightful heir to the Mughal throne. When Aurangzeb seized power, Dara and Nadira were forced to flee. Nadira died of exhaustion and dysentery near the Bolan Pass — and Dara, with his last remaining soldiers, carried her body all the way to Lahore to bury her near their spiritual guide, Hazrat Mian Mir. 🏛️ What Makes This Tomb UNIQUE? Unlike any other Mughal tomb in Pakistan, this one was built WITHOUT a dome — standing on a raised platform in the centre of a massive water tank, making it look more like a royal pavilion. The fresco work inside is breathtaking, yet barely anyone visits. 📍 Location: Dharampura, near Shrine of Hazrat Mian Mir, Lahore 🗓️ Built: 1693–1698 ⚠️ Sadly, encroachments, neglect, and the British-era dismantling of the water tank have left this historic gem in a forgotten state.
