If it is too burdensome…” She gives him a literal PIECE OF HER so he could carry it around with him because she cannot go with him on his mission! She is so utterly vulnerable and insecure while waiting for his reaction because by giving Ban Ryu her hair, Su Yeon is basically revealing her feelings and offering him her heart on a platter. And he’s so completely shocked when he unwraps her gift because it’s something so deeply intimate, personal and significant since person’s hair (particularly the hair of women) bore a huge significance as it was regarded in Korea as a precious inheritence from parents and cutting it was meant as a shame and punishment. Su Yeon couldn’t have given him a more precious gift than this. Ban Ryu realizes it's full meaning and notices Su Yeon’s insecurity and I love that it’s actually this moment when he actually starts to speak to her, because he feels the need to reassure her and to communicate to her, how much he appreciates her gift and her and how much it means to him. Ban Ryu : “It is… not.” It’s hilarious that for a man who is so well-read and eloquent in his writing, Ban Ryu is utterly hapless and fumbling for words to express himself around Su Yeon. But then he notices her smile and blushes, realizing that his unintelligent, three-word reply made her so happy. Soo Yeon : “Then… you should go. Please return safely. I will be waiting.” Not only has Su Yeon been waiting for Ban Ryu every day he’s spend in the Hwarang House, she also comes to say goodbye to him, wish him good luck and tells him to return safely TO HER BECAUSE SHE WILL BE WAITING FOR HIM! She is pretty much indirectly telling him she LOVES HIM 😍😍 I'm looking forward to the Soo Yeon x Ban Ryu pairing because they look so cute together and he looked so smitten. Though it would be a "Romeo and Juliet" kind of situation with the way their fathers hate each other, but Ban Ryu finally have the courage to stand up for what he wants. Soo Yeon and Ban Ryu's romance is so sweet and adorable and I absolutely love it. The kiss, I was like, "Yes!" 😙 It's about time he took some initiative.
