CUTS under the project entitled ‘Enhanced oversight and monitoring of public procurement in Zambia’s education sector’ has been involved in analysing the national legal and policy frameworks, which guide Public Procurement in Zambia. The institution also undertook a legislative analysis and the development of a Monitoring Toolkit to strengthen monitoring, oversight and advocacy on public procurement in the education sector. This project is supported by the ‘Enabling Access to Justice, Civil Society Participation and Transparency’ (EnACT), a jointly funded programme between the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union (EU). The project goals include;  Evidence generation that will contribute to the implementation of the Public Procurement Act of 2020, which should be harmonized with the Anti-Corruption Act of 2012 and the Companies Act of 2017.  Enhanced analytical skills of stakeholders such as CSO’s and media personnel so that they can effectively engage with public procurement in Zambia, using the education sector as a lens.  Ignition of public discourse about the negative effects of poor procurement decisions on service delivery and facilitate informed dialogue on public procurement accountability. This video looks at public procurement in Zambia with focus on the education sector.
