Test 28 of our IELTS-style Listening series: a full test of four parts and 40 questions, played at the real exam's timing. Part 1: a mother phones a children's circus school to book her daughter onto a five-day summer course, and you complete the booking form and the notes for parents. Part 2: on local radio, the designer of a town's new skatepark explains how it was planned and what each area offers, with multiple choice and a matching box. Part 3: two students preparing a report for their department weigh printed textbooks against digital ones for first-year students. Part 4: part of a lecture on why cut fruit turns brown, how lemon juice, cold and blanching slow it down, and where browning is useful, as in black tea. The answer key, a band guide and the explanation for every answer come at the end. It is original and does not come from a Cambridge book, so you will not have heard it before.
How to use it
Have a pen and paper ready, and write as you listen.
Play each part straight through without pausing, as in the exam.
Mark your answers at the end with the answer key and band guide.
Then read the explanation for every answer you missed.
