Ghost Riders (Swamp Soul) | Jobie Soul: The Legacy

🎃Welcome back to Jobie Soul: The Legacy. This track is a powerful cornerstone of our Halloween collection, born from the deep roots of a true story, midnight highways, and the unforgettable ghost tales told around the campfire by our mama—the incredible BMI award-winning artist, Joyce J. Starnes. 📖This song brings to life one of her most chilling, real-life accounts. Long before we were born, our mama and daddy were taking a night ride on a lonesome stretch of Georgia highway. They were the only car on the road until, out of nowhere, a maroon car appeared, stopped dead in the middle of the asphalt. With no time to brake, my mama screamed as their car drove straight through the phantom vehicle. In sharp, horrifying detail, they saw a man slumped over the wheel, a woman slumped in the passenger seat, a little girl leaning forward toward the front, and every inch of the shattered glass interior. When they finally slammed on the brakes and looked back at the same time, there was nothing left behind except burning rubber skid marks and what looked like old blood on the road. Much like the true spirit of her storytelling in her song "Nightmare Car", Ghost Riders takes you down that dark stretch of Georgia pines where the living and the phantom collide, forever trapped on a desolate loop of time. Featuring an upbeat swamp-soul groove, a powerhouse soul lead, a gritty blues male lead, and tight high-energy gospel backing harmonies, this is a Southern Gothic tale of sorrow, specters, and the things that refuse to stay buried. “Go on home now baby. Go back to the light.” 🎵Credits & Info Style: Swamp Soul / Southern Gothic / Delta Blues Copyright 1984-2026.
