The scheme aims to add 5,000 MW of floating solar capacity, significantly expanding India’s existing capacity of approximately 700 MW. Under the scheme, eligible projects will receive Central Financial Assistance of ₹1 crore per MW after successful commissioning. Financial support of up to ₹50 lakh per project will also be provided for feasibility studies and preparatory assessments. By utilizing reservoirs, industrial ponds and other suitable water bodies, the initiative will reduce pressure on land resources, strengthen grid reliability and support India’s clean-energy transition.
