Hi, I'm Daniel with etrailer and today we're gonna take a look at and I'm gonna show how to install the Airlift LoadLifter 7,500 XL Ultimate Air Helper Springs on our 2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty. Like our neighbor today, he owns a business, he's hauling around really heavy stuff. He's actually got a fifth wheel in the back of this truck so you know he is gonna have some heavy duty trailers attached to this, so he opted to get airbags just to make everything easier when he's out on the job. First off, I'm gonna get you a couple measurements of factory ride height. We unhooked the trailer there so there's nothing pushing down on our vehicle. So I'll just measure the wheel well, try and get the center as possible and I got 43".
Now I'll go ahead and measure the front one. We have about 41". (tape measure clattering) Now I'll go ahead and hook our trailer up. (trailer hitch whirring) So this trailer does have 750 pounds of tongue weight, so that's gonna be pushing down on the hitch. (trailer hitch whirring) And we also put some blue painter tape on that rear strut so you can see that going up in there, so that's how much the truck is actually squatting.
I'm gonna re-get those measurements. So the back here is gonna be sitting at about 41 3/4", so that dropped quite a bit. And now the front, 41 1/2". So as you can see that back dropped, and the front rose, so what that means is those tires aren't gonna be firmly planted on the ground, which is gonna affect your drivability. The back is gonna have undue pressure on it, which is gonna unevenly wear your tires and gonna wear your suspension a lot more then if you had airbags and you can level everything out.
Here we got our trailer hooked up and we're gonna take this for a spin and see how it handles without the airbags installed. (trailer clattering) (trailer clattering continues) Definitely pretty jarring. Now we've completed the install, we hooked our trailer back up, and I measured the wheel well and filled the bags until this went to factory ride height. Now we can take it for a spin again. And I'm hitting those same bumps.
(trailer clattering) This time around, it's feeling a lot stiffer, not too bad. After driving this with the airbags full, I can tell you that it's definitely a better ride. Now, when you do have these installed in your vehicle, you do wanna make sure that they're gonna be at that five PSI minimum, just so you don't damage them. So if you're somebody who experiences sway or bounce when you're hauling a trailer, adding some airbags is going to really help your drivability and prolong the life of the components of your car, like your tires and suspension, so it's really a great idea. Now we just installed the airbags today, but you can opt to get a compressor with these, so if you're not wanting to manually fill 'em all the time, then it's a good idea to have an onboard compressor, that way you can just use a remote and fill 'em that way. If you decide to get these airbags for your F-250, then please let us know how you're liking 'em and review our comments. Now as far as the install goes, there are quite a few parts that come in this kit, and there's a lot of things you need to torque down. Now, it's not too bad, but if you don't have the time or tools to do it yourself then please feel free to check out our dealer locator and we can find a professional in your area to get this done for ya. Now, if you're looking to install it yourself, follow along and I'll walk you through it. To start our installation, I already removed our spare tires. It's gonna give us more room to work in here, and I'll take our factory down bumpers off. I got a 14, or 15, excuse me, millimeter socket. (drill buzzing) I'm just gonna take these two nuts off that are securing our down bumper. (drill buzzing) Take this down. Now these two clips, they need to come down, so I'm just gonna take a screwdriver, stick it in there, (metal clunking) and pry them down just like that. This one might be a little hard to get leverage on so I might need to get some pliers. Came out not too bad. Now we can install our threaded universal nuts in. There's just a thread in the center there and I'm gonna put each one in where we took the bolts out for the jounce bumper. Make sure that raise is facing up. A
