JAMAICAN DUB 🦁 Backyard Dub · 1972 | Early Dub & Version Sound System Mix [Vol.71]

🦁 JAMAICAN DUB — BACKYARD DUB · 1972 A downtown Kingston tenement backyard, 1972 — the dawn of the dub era. The rig stands stacked on its wooden table, turntable and mixer wired up, the crew gathered round in open-collar shirts and bell-bottoms, one or two young dreads among them. This one's an intimate yard session: rocksteady and reggae riddims reworked in dub, swinging walking basslines and offbeat skanks, bubbling organ and sweet melodica, warm horns drifting into the very first spring reverb and tape-delay echoes at a homemade mixing desk. One continuous early-dub mix — no talking, just the riddim and the version. 🔊 Where dub was born — in the yard. Bass, echo and the mixing desk. 🎧 Perfect for late-night listening, focus, deep work, driving, or drifting back to where it all started. ▶️ TRACKLIST — ACT I · THE YARD SESSION BEGINS — 0:00:00 Sun-Warmed Yard 0:01:23 First Spring Echo 0:03:28 Homemade B-Side 0:05:28 Version Excursion 0:06:38 Rocksteady Into Reggae — ACT II · DISCOVERING ECHO — 0:07:34 Silky Yard Groove 0:09:39 Discovering Echo 0:12:44 Backyard Delay 0:15:24 Bubbling Organ 0:17:36 Smoky Organ Groove — ACT III · MELODICA & HORNS — 0:19:39 Plaintive Melodica 0:21:57 Hazy Afternoon Yard 0:24:02 Trumpet and Trombone 0:26:14 Neighbourly Horns 0:28:06 Mixing Desk Science — ACT IV · DEEP IN THE YARD — 0:31:03 Dawn of Dub 0:34:13 Heavyweight Pressure 0:37:02 Deep Yard Bass 0:39:36 Easing Down 0:42:09 Backyard Farewell 🌴 ABOUT THE SERIES JAMAICAN DUB is an ongoing series of vintage-styled sound system mixes — instrumental ska, rocksteady, roots, dub and steppers built to capture the feel of late-1960s through early-1980s Jamaica. This volume goes back to 1972, to the dawn of dub — when engineers first stripped vocals from rocksteady and reggae riddims and reworked the "version" at the mixing desk with echo and reverb, giving birth to a whole new sound. No talking, no interruptions — just the riddim. ❤️ If this moved you, drop a like, subscribe and ring the bell for a new sound system mix every week.
