In this video, we document the felling of 2 massive rain trees (trembesi) presenting distinct structural challenges. To handle these heavy timber dimensions, our crew deployed two of the most powerful logging chainsaws in the industry: the Stihl MS 881 and Husqvarna 3120XP, accompanied by the lightweight Echo CS 3510L for canopy prep. Here is the operational breakdown of both trees: 1. The First Tree (250 cm Girth - Bamboo Thicket & Cornfield Boundary): The opening giant measured an impressive 250 cm in circumference, positioned right between a dense bamboo thicket and an active cornfield. A thorough ground assessment confirmed a clear, safe drop corridor with zero risk of trunk shattering upon impact. Our crew executed a direct directional fell, landing the massive timber cleanly without damaging the neighboring crops. 2. The Second Tree (200 cm Girth - "Slingshot" Fork & Split Prevention Pruning): The second tree measured 200 cm in girth and featured a prominent slingshot-style fork (co-dominant stems). Felling a tree with this geometry in one piece carries an extreme risk of the trunk violently splitting apart upon hitting the ground. To preserve the valuable wood, our climber used the Echo CS 3510L to systematically dismantle the canopy and fork limbs first, lightening the structure before making the final base cut with our heavy saws.
