Join us on a slow train journey from Qingdao to Wenzhou, crossing eastern China from the northern coast of the Shandong Peninsula to the southeast coast of Zhejiang Province. We begin in Qingdao, a coastal city on the Yellow Sea, before boarding a long-distance sleeper train at Qingdao North Railway Station. Over the next 29 hours, the train travels inland through Shandong and Anhui, across plains and mountains, before entering the greener, wetter landscapes of Zhejiang and finally reaching Wenzhou. This is a quieter kind of China train journey — less about rushing from one destination to another, and more about watching the landscape change from a train window. From the foggy morning in Qingdao to the rain-soaked approach to Wenzhou, the scenery changes gradually: coast, inland plains, mountains, rice fields and finally the sea again. No rush. No checklist.
