CHILLY DECEMBER at CONCEALED Pipe Organ | POWERFUL HORN Needs Tuning!

On a cold December day, I visited the charming two-manual Brindley & Foster pipe organ at the Church of St Mary and St Alkelda in Middleham, North Yorkshire. Nestled in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park, this lovely tubular-pneumatic instrument (c.1900–1920) is completely hidden behind the elaborate choir stalls and ornate carved woodwork. Despite its concealed position, it remains remarkably close to being in tune, although the bold Horn stop would benefit from a little attention. All in all, it’s a delightful and characterful organ in a stunning church setting. A big thank you to the church for kindly allowing me to visit and record!
