The Odyssey The Shore He Could Not Recognize Episode 7

After seven years on Calypso’s island, Odysseus is finally allowed to leave. He builds a raft and sails toward home alone. No ship. No crew. No army. But Poseidon has not forgotten him. A final storm tears the raft apart and leaves Odysseus fighting for his life in the open sea. When he finally reaches land, exhausted and almost naked, he has no idea where he is — or how close he has come to home. In Episode 7 of The Odyssey, Odysseus enters the last stage of his twenty-year journey. He meets the Phaeacian princess Nausicaa, enters the court of King Alcinous, and hears a bard sing about the Trojan War — the very war he survived. For years, Odysseus has hidden his identity. This time, the story breaks him. And when the Phaeacians finally carry the sleeping wanderer across the sea, they leave him on a quiet shore with the treasures he has been given. Odysseus wakes alone. He looks around. And he does not recognize the land. After twenty years... he has finally reached Ithaca. But getting home and taking back your life are not the same thing.
