Built in 1582 CE (989 AH), the Kherua Mosque in Sherpur, Bogura, is one of Bengal’s significant surviving examples of early Mughal-era architecture. Its inscription attributes its construction to Mirza Murad Khan Qaqshal. The mosque preserves a remarkable blend of Bengal’s Sultanate architectural traditions and emerging Mughal forms, reflecting a period of major political and cultural transition in Bengal. More than four centuries later, the mosque still stands as a living part of Bangladesh’s heritage. Bengal at Risk is a heritage documentation campaign by Uprising Arts, exploring the places, stories, and cultural memories that connect us to Bengal’s past. #BengalAtRisk #UprisingArts #KheruaMosque #bangladeshheritage #culturalheritage #bangladesh #documentary #heritageatrisk
