What if in 2008 instead of Marvel pioneering the cinematic universe concept instead Nintendo pioneered it. In 1993 the Super Mario Bros movie was released to disastrous critic reviews and fan backlash but was a hit at the box office which led to a trilogy that tried to course correct at the end but people stopped caring by that point. In the late 90s Nintendo would sell the Pokémon film rights to Fox which is why they are not featured in this intro and they don’t get a movie. Nintendo would begin collaborating with Universal Pictures they would make a movie called Donkey Kong in 2003 which is much better than the 1993 disaster and is a modest hit at the box office though Nintendo didn’t have much creative input which meant that Mario could not be said in the movie so the character is referred to as Jumpman. A sequel based on Donkey Kong Country was planned but then Nintendo offered them a deal. That they would get full control where now Mario could appear but it could not be connected to DK 2003. It was either that or continuing the DK 2003 film series while never being able to use Mario. Universal decided to got with nintendos decision. And thus Nintendo Studios and the Nintendo Cinematic Universe was born Disclaimer: Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
