O tucano-de-bico-preto (Ramphastos vitellinus vitellinus) ocorre no Brasil predominantemente na Região Norte, ao norte do Rio Amazonas. A distribuição dessa subespécie específica abrange: Estados: Amapá, Roraima, Pará (norte do Rio Amazonas) e Amazonas (norte do Rio Amazonas/Rio Negro). Bioma principal: Floresta Amazônica de terra firme e florestas de baixada. Nota taxonômica: Embora a espécie Ramphastos vitellinus (como um todo) também esteja presente na Floresta Atlântica e no Centro-Oeste, essas outras regiões são habitadas por subespécies distintas (como o Ramphastos vitellinus ariel). A subespécie nominal (R. v. vitellinus) fica restrita à porção setentrional do país e às Guianas/Venezuela. The channel-billed toucan (specifically the nominate subspecies, *Ramphastos vitellinus vitellinus*) is found in Brazil predominantly in the North Region, north of the Amazon River.
