रानी धना कुमाऊँ के अस्कोट राज्य की रानी थीं। उन्हें एक बहादुर, समझदार और साहसी वीरांगना के रूप में याद किया जाता है। उनके पति, राजा नार सिंह ने डोटी राज्य पर हमला किया था। लेकिन युद्ध के दौरान डोटी के राजा कालीचंद ने उनकी हत्या कर दी। अपने पति की मौत के बाद रानी धना ने प्रण लिया कि जब तक कालीचंद को उसके किए की सज़ा नहीं मिलेगी, तब तक वह चैन से नहीं बैठेंगी। रानी धना अकेले ही डोटी पहुँच गईं। उन्होंने धीरे-धीरे कालीचंद का भरोसा जीत लिया और उसके विवाह प्रस्ताव को भी स्वीकार कर लिया। लेकिन यह शादी प्यार के लिए नहीं, बल्कि अपने पति की मौत का बदला लेने की एक सोची-समझी योजना थी। सही समय आने पर रानी धना ने काली नदी के बीच कालीचंद का वध कर अपने पति की हत्या का बदला पूरा किया। उनके साहस, धैर्य और बुद्धिमानी की वजह से उन्हें आज भी "कुमाऊँ की गुमनाम वीरांगना" के रूप में याद किया जाता है। Rani Dhana was the queen of the Askot kingdom in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. She is remembered as a brave, wise, and courageous queen. Her husband, King Nar Singh, launched an attack on the Kingdom of Doti, but during the battle, he was killed by King Kalichand. After her husband's death, Rani Dhana vowed that she would not rest until Kalichand was punished for what he had done. According to local folklore, Rani Dhana traveled to Doti all by herself. She slowly gained Kalichand's trust and even agreed to marry him. But this marriage was never about love—it was part of her plan to avenge her husband's death. When the right moment came, she killed Kalichand in the middle of the Kali River and fulfilled her vow of revenge.
