ज्योति मशहूर अभिनेत्री निम्मी की मासी थी तो वहीदान निम्मी की माँ थी. इन दोनों अभिनेत्रिने १९३० से लेकर १९५० तक अभिनय क्षेत्र में अपना अपना योगदान दिया था. वहीदान की मृत्यु साल १९४० के आसपास हुई थी. ज्योति ने १९५० तक फिल्मों में अभिनय किया था, पर उनकी मृत्यु कब हुई इसपर कोई जानकारी मिली नहीं. ज्योति का असली नाम सितारा बेगम था. मशहूर अभिनेत्री सितारा देवी ने उनका नाम ज्योति रख दिया. मशहूर सिंगर GM Durrani उनके पति थे, जिनपर हमने पहले ही वीडियो बनाई थी- उनकी कहानी की वीडियो लिंक -    • GM Durrani -  Playback Singing का एक बेताज...   At ‘Ranjit Movietone’, Sitara met that era’s famous singer-actress Waheedan who had worked under the banner for movies like ‘Professor Woman M.Sc.’, ‘Prithvi Putra’, ‘Rickshaw-wala’, ‘Secretary’ (all 1938), ‘Thokar’ (1939) and also for ‘Sagar film Company’s’ film ‘Alibaba’ (1940) directed by Mehboob where she had won over the audiences with not only her acting but also her brilliant singing. Waheedan’s younger sister Jyoti was also a singer-actress who had worked in movies like ‘Sagar Movietone’s’ ‘Comrades’, ‘Ek Hi Rasta’ (both 1939), ‘National Studios’s’ Mehboob directed ‘Aurat’, ‘Sanskaar’ (both 1940). Shortly thereafter Waheedan fell ill and returned to her parents’ house in Fatehabad where she finally passed away. Meanwhile Jyoti had married singer-actor G.M.Durrani. At the time of Waheedan’s death, her daughter Nimmi was 7 years old who later on became Hindi Cinema’s star actress.
