What happens when following Jesus doesn't fit neatly into everyone else's expectations?
Sometimes the hardest pressure Christians face doesn't come from the culture—it comes from worrying about what other Christians will think.
In Luke 7, Jesus points out something fascinating: John the Baptist lived one way and people condemned him. Jesus lived differently…and they condemned Him too. Jesus was even criticized for eating with tax collectors and sinners.
So how should we respond when biblical conviction, complicated relationships, cultural issues, and the opinions of other Christians collide?
In this Wednesdays in the Word episode, Matt Dawson explores what it means to remain anchored to absolute truth while depending on the Holy Spirit to guide how you actually love, engage, and respond to people.
We'll talk about:
• Why you can't build your Christian life around pleasing people
• What Jesus teaches us about being misunderstood
• Biblical conviction vs. Christian rule-making
• Following the Holy Spirit in complicated relationships
• Loving people without abandoning truth
• Why "wisdom is shown to be right by its results"
• Living as salt and light in a changing culture
The goal isn't to give you another rulebook.
It's to challenge you to become the kind of follower of Jesus who knows God's Word, stands firmly in truth, and is surrendered enough to the Holy Spirit to ask:
"God, what are You asking me to do in THIS situation?"
📖 SCRIPTURE: Luke 7:29–35

Are you tired of worrying about what others think? Learn how to stop seeking validation and find peace in your Christian faith.
Many of us struggle with the fear of judgment when making life decisions. We worry about how our choices will be perceived, often leading to anxiety rather than obedience. Jesus addresses this exact human tendency in Luke 7:31-32, comparing the crowd to children in the marketplace who are never satisfied, regardless of the game being played.
When you prioritize dealing with judgment from others, you lose sight of your true purpose. This study offers a biblical perspective on why we often look for approval from people instead of God, helping you break free from the cycle of people-pleasing to walk confidently in the path set before you.
