A powerful storm moved through Big Bear Valley, bringing hours of heavy rain and difficult conditions. During the storm, Kaydee arrived at the nest, seemingly using the familiar structure as shelter. Shadow was nowhere to be seen, and Kaydee spent time at the nest while the rain continued. The weather appeared especially challenging as Kaydee became soaked and repeatedly shook the water from her feathers. During one takeoff, her flight looked unsteady in the difficult conditions. After several hours, the rain finally eased. Kaydee eventually left the nest, but Shadow was still not there. Then, some time later, Shadow appeared alone at the Lookout Snag.
