A slick game with a teeny bit of cheating. But still, a great run... Nemesis: Retaliation is a cinematic sci-fi horror board game from Awaken Realms, set in the terrifying universe of Nemesis. In this playthrough, a squad of elite marines enters a hostile alien environment where survival depends on teamwork, tactical decisions, careful resource management — and a healthy amount of luck. After the events of the original Nemesis games, Retaliation puts players in the role of highly trained marines sent to confront an alien threat. But this isn't simply a battle against waves of enemies. The game combines survival horror, exploration, tactical combat, hidden objectives and resource management to create a tense and unpredictable experience. As the squad explores the ship and its interconnected rooms and corridors, the threat of the Intruders is never far away. Noise can attract unwanted attention, rooms can contain dangerous surprises, and the Intruder bag can determine exactly what emerges when the aliens arrive. From smaller creatures such as Larvae and Adults to larger and more dangerous Intruders such as Drones and the Queen, every encounter can dramatically change the situation. Combat is a major part of Nemesis: Retaliation, with players using weapons, ammunition, tactical gear, grenades and specialised equipment to fight their way through the alien threat. The game features its own combat system using Burst, Shoot and Noise dice, creating a mixture of tactical decision-making and uncertainty. But surviving the aliens isn't the only challenge. Players must also contend with oxygen, ammunition, serious wounds, fire, malfunctions and contamination, while trying to complete their individual objectives. The combination of shared danger and personal goals creates the tension that makes the Nemesis series so distinctive. You may need your fellow marines to survive — but everyone can have their own reasons for being there. Nemesis: Retaliation combines detailed miniatures, modular room tiles, character boards, cards, dice and equipment to create a highly thematic sci-fi horror board game that feels closer to a survival horror video game than a traditional tabletop experience. In this Nemesis: Retaliation gameplay playthrough, we'll see how the mission unfolds, how the marine squad handles the alien infestation, and whether we can make it out alive.
