We spent four days in Keelung, Taiwan, experiencing the 2025 Keelung Chungyuan Festival (鷄籠中元祭) — Taiwan's Ghost Festival🏮 Celebrated since 1855, the festival reached its 171st edition in 2025 and is recognized as an Important Folk Custom. We followed the main ceremonies, from the lighting of the Main Salvation Altar to the final water lantern release at sea. Rituals traditionally associated with guiding wandering spirits toward the afterlife.
