Their name, “Tokai,” is derived from the Japanese word “都会 (とかい),” meaning “city.” Just like pedestrians in casual outfits walking through the city streets, Tokai’s music embodies that same sense of everyday comfort. Rooted in the sound of “casual rock,” their music aims to offer listeners the ease of a hoodie and the energetic, upbeat vibe of a track top. On January 25, 2025, they made their official debut with the full-length album [burning.]—a reflection on the pains and growth of youth. Following that, on June 22 of the same year, they released the EP [breathing.], continuing the story from their debut. Despite having debuted less than 100 days prior, they were invited to perform at the KT&G Sangsang Realization Festival and were selected as one of the Top 6 bands in the KT&G Band Discovery, making a small yet distinct mark on the scene. Starting with this new EP, Tokai is set to continue their active journey, with their first solo concert scheduled for July and an appearance at the Busan International Rock Festival in September.
