First Drive in 14 Years! Audi S6 V8 Rebuild Finally Hits the Arctic Snow

After months of intense work in the shop rebuilding the V8 engine, overhauling the brakes, and completely refreshing the rear end, the moment of truth has finally arrived. Today, we take the 1999 Audi S6 C5 Avant out for its very first test drive. This is the first time this car has driven any real distance under its own power in 14 years. Testing a freshly rebuilt machine in -18°C Swedish Arctic conditions is the ultimate trial, but this avant belongs in the snow. Along with the maiden voyage, we tackle a few extra jobs to get it ready for the road: ripping out the dated, heavy old audio equipment from the back and swapping out the winter setup for a clean set of summer wheels and tires. It's been a long journey from a forgotten garage to the frozen Arctic roads, but the V8 is finally awake.
