Making a Linen Chemise - 18th/Early 19th Century Inspired

Making a very simple regency 18th/early 19th century chemise based on a tutorial/pattern I found online (link below). I needed a plain chemise to wear under a few of my costumes, including a couple regency dresses and some medieval dresses which are still in the making. Also when I do get around to venturing into stays and corsetry territory I will want to wear this chemise with those too! Very versatile garment - an essential in every costumer's wardrobe! I've never made a chemise before but I knew I wanted to make it from linen. Because linen is so expensive here in Australia, I only bought 1 metre (or maybe it was 1.2 or 1.5) of this material - it was actually my first linen purchase ever! I didn't have enough fabric to make a proper historical chemise, but I did base it on extant chemises/shifts from history. Historical chemises would have had sleeves, gores and gussets. They were also usually below knee-length, which mine is most certainly not! I will be making another chemise like this in future for my sister who will need one for under her dress. I'm going to use some leftover linen fabric from my red/maroon 1940s inspired dress. I think I have even less of that material than this white linen so I guess we'll just have to wait and see how that chemise turns out! Hope you enjoy the video and happy sewing!
