HEAR AND OBEY Living without Regrets I Samuel 15 8/23/26 Can you recall your last regret? *Our greatest danger is to underestimate obedience! *Our opportunities for obedience are clearly linked to defined biblical principles! *Samuel said, Has the Lord as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of divination,a nd insubordination is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected to word of the Lord, He has also rejected you from being king.vs. 22-23 *Samuel did not see Saul again until the day of his death; for Samuel grieved over Saul. And the Lord regretted that He has made him king.vs.35 Regret Proofing your life: Requirement #1 Attentive listening—-vs.1-8 *If you miss the details you will often miss the directions! *Instructions are given to be heeded completely— Requirement #2 Radical obedience—vs.9-23 *We must be willing to eliminate what will contaminate our hearts— *Sacrifice is momentary but obedience is a consistent direction— Requirement #3–Personal application—vs.24-35 *In the moment we must be wise to hear and obey— *God decisively directs our hearts to His ways— So clearly today we must make some clear choices: We must choose to daily obey His Word and Spirit We must surrender our hearts to the promises and principles of the Bible We must decide that a life with regrets is not a life we should choose- We must realize that the God of Grace keeps calling our name! Will you choose wisely?
