Alarippu in Sankeenam Performer - Sushmitha Suresh Alarippu, as most of us maybe familiar, is like the blossoming of a flower; Alar - meaning bloom and Poo - meaning flower. In this Nritta piece, the dancer slowly begins with smaller movements, progressing into bigger movements and eventually the entire body, just like that of a bud blooming into a beautiful flower! Sankeernam is a 9 beat pattern and in this piece I have explored various permutations and combinations of the number 9 and experimented choreography as well!
