A Snow Monkey Mother Gives Birth… Her Baby Is Born Last in Line | 4K Wildlife Documentary

This baby snow monkey is born at the bottom of her troop. Daughters inherit their mother's rank, so she feeds last and waits at the edge of the hot spring while higher-ranking monkeys soak. About 1 in 4 snow monkey babies don't live to their first birthday. Follow one mother and daughter through a summer of learning their place, an eagle's shadow, a first snow and the longest night of the winter. A Kyoto University study found the highest-ranking females sat in the warm water longest; this is what it looks like from the edge.
