Design Museum Gent doet the Right DING. In his typical dark style, he shows the different steps in the production process. Making 85,000 bricks from waste from the people of Ghent? How crazy cool is that! Design Museum Gent is doing the Right DING. DING, our new wing, will be a showcase of sustainable construction. Research is central to this. So we developed a brand new facade brick made from waste streams. And you could see live from April 20th to May 11th, 2024, how we produced them at Het Arsenaal in Ghent! For three weeks, we transformed the halls of the old railway site into a real workshop where you could see the brick being pressed from the waste of the people of Ghent right before your eyes. You experienced the production live, guided by the stories of our narrators. For three weeks, they enlightened you about the brick and what makes it so special. In addition to the workshop, there was also a real studio where designers and artists experimented and created their own work with the same waste material. And you discovered how you can contribute to DING, because DING is for you, by you! Please contribute and help Design Museum Gent make the necessary ecological transition a reality.
