England Released 35 Pine Martens Into Forest of Dean — 2 Years Later, Grey Squirrels Are In Trouble

England Released 35 Pine Martens Into Forest of Dean — 2 Years Later, Grey Squirrels Are In Trouble In 2019, conservationists trapped thirty-five wild pine martens in the Scottish Highlands and released them into an English forest that hadn't seen the predator since 1860 — and within months, the grey squirrels living there started to unravel. This video tells the full story: how an American squirrel became one of Britain's worst invasive species, why decades of trapping and poison failed, and how a single cat-sized predator does what humans never could. You'll learn the strange evolutionary reason pine martens devastate grey squirrels while leaving native reds almost untouched, why fear alone may be doing most of the work, and what the early data from the Forest of Dean is really showing. It's a story about balance, extinction, and one native hunter quietly rewriting a 150-year-old mistake. #PineMarten #RedSquirrel #Rewilding #Wildlife #Conservation #Britain
