SOUMITRA THAKUR was initiated into the world of Indian classical music at the age of 4. He began training in Sitar under his uncle, Shri Prashanta Thakur, from the Bishnupur Gharana of West Bengal. He received further tutelage from Ustad Rashid Khan, focusing on the gayaki ang of the Sitar. He is currently undergoing advanced training under celebrated sitar maestro Pt. Kushal Das of the Maihar Gharana. After graduating in Economics from Hindu College, he completed his Masters in Music from the University of Delhi. A gold medalist in both MA and MPhil, he is currently a research scholar in music from the University of Delhi. Soumitra's baaj carries influences from both the Maihar and the Imdadkhani Etawah Gharana. ZARGHAM AKRAM KHAN belongs to the illustrious lineage of Tabla players of the Ajrada Gharana and represents its unbroken 8th generation. He received his initial training under the able guidance of his grandfather, Ustad Hashmat Ali Khan, the senior-most exponent of the Ajrada Gharana and recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. Zargham has been instrumental in retention and reaffirmation of the Art of Tabla of the Ajrada Gharana. He has successfully retained more than Ten kaydas that has been conceptualized by the Ajrada Gharana. Zargham completed his Graduation in English from Ramjas College, University of Delhi along with performing and Carrying forward the legacy of this rich tradition.
