The King's Head, North Lopham — Re-Thatching a Restored Village Pub

After a three-year wait for the right team, the thatched roof of The King's Head in North Lopham has finally been restored — and we were lucky enough to capture the whole process from start to finish. This film follows Anglia Thatching Co. as they strip back decades of history (including a roof that was in places less than two inches thick!) and rebuild it using traditional methods — with just reed, timber, and skill passed down over generations. The King's Head is more than just a pub — it's the heart of North Lopham, and this project was a true team effort involving thatchers, carpenters, plasterers, groundworkers, and the whole community who've supported the pub every step of the way.
