Des Moines Iowa Road Trip + High Trestle Trail Cycling Highlights

Join us as we head north for a 3-day trip to the Des Moines, Iowa area! We kick off the journey with a quick pit stop at Arby's in Carthage, Missouri before hitting the open road. After making it to our hotel in Altoona, Iowa, we settle in just in time to catch a beautiful sunset right outside our window. The main event of the trip: cycling the legendary High Trestle Trail! Day 1: A solo ride starting in Ankeny, heading north to Slater and back. Day 2: A tandem adventure riding from Woodward to Slater and back, taking in the incredible views along the trail. We wrap up the trip with a scenic drive back home, greeted by the familiar sight of the Ouachita Mountains.
