The Body on Somerton Beach

The Somerton Man was found dead on Somerton Beach on 1 December 1948 with no ID and a tiny scroll sewn into his pocket reading Tamam Shud. This documentary traces the 7 p.m. sightings to the 6:30 a.m. discovery, the autopsy that found no poison despite an engorged liver and enlarged spleen, and the brown suitcase left at Adelaide Station with every label cut out. It follows the 2021 exhumation and the July 2022 DNA identification as Carl Webb, and why the cause of death is still unknown.
