Triple Tornado Outbreak Video Timeline (Long Video, Take A Seat) This video shows the timeline of the tornado outbreak that impacted Northwest Indiana on the evening of June 11, 2026, using radar imagery, storm tracks, and verified video footage from across the region. Bethany & myself tracked damage paths today across 2 counties covering 3 separate tornadoes. Between approximately 6:45 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., three separate tornadoes were confirmed to have developed and tracked northeast across portions of Lake and Porter County. Survey teams from the National Weather Service spent Friday & Saturday assessing damage paths as well and determining preliminary ratings. 🌪 Tornado #1 – St. John to Merrillville Preliminary Rating: EF-0 - EF-2 This tornado first developed near the Indiana-Illinois state line before moving through St. John and into Merrillville. The most significant damage occurred along the 61st Avenue corridor, where homes sustained major structural damage, roofs were torn off buildings, large trees were uprooted, and Andrean High School & Merrillville Intermediate School suffered extensive damage. 🌪 Tornado #2 – Cedar Lake Preliminary Rating: EF-0 A second, weaker tornado briefly touched down in the Cedar Lake area, causing localized damage before lifting. 🌪 Tornado #3 – Schneider to Kouts Preliminary Rating: EF-0 - EF-3 The strongest tornado of the outbreak developed near Schneider and tracked northeast toward Kouts. Survey crews documented severe damage along portions of its path, with some structures experiencing significant destruction consistent with EF-3 winds. The June 11 outbreak serves as a reminder that tornadoes can develop quickly in Northwest Indiana, especially during severe weather events involving multiple supercells and embedded circulations.
