Pouring the Foundation of My Home

This video was a very important day for me. This was pour day of the foundation of my home. After over half a decade of living in the camper you see in the background, working my ass off, saving money, burning through all that money, and going on the long ride in the Struggle Bus we achieved the day were we poured the foundation. The house took a year to build start to finish, but this was the first official permanent thing (besides the earthwork) we did for the structure. 30 yds were required and much to my pleasure my alma mater Smyrna Ready Mix was the company tasked with the pour! In fact two of the trucks had old friends in them too, Tony in 1366 and Chris in 1278. The trucks were an interesting mix too. 1366 was a brand new truck in the fleet when I left SRM, and I remember when 1278 was a fairly new truck too. 1404 was a neat surprise! 1404 is actually a truck from the newest mixer manufacturers out there HMC or Hollingshead Mixer Company. Smyrna Ready Mix purchased Phoenix Mixers out of Indiana a few years ago to combat the lack of available trucks from Terex and started manufacturing their own trucks for their fleet. Their trucks look a bit different now, and with a seasoned eye you can tell that 1404 was one of the last Phoenix Mixers with HMC dressing applied. The tiny engine bay cover and exhaust stack were the big tells. I can't tell you how happy I was to finally have a slab after all of this was done. Being able to pull up a chair and sit on a slab on the hillside I've spent years standing on prior to the build.
