Every year, Dedan Kimathi Foundation conducts 2 important celebrations in honor of Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi Wachiuri We celebrate his posthumous birthday every 31st of October and Commemorate his execution every 18th of February. Dedan Kimathi was the spiritual and military leader of the Land and Freedom Army well known as the Mau Mau. He organized troops in the Aberdares who fiercely fought the British colonizers and weakened their troops to a big extent. To many Kenyans, he is regarded as the most popular freedom fighter who portrayed a lot of bravery, tactical knowledge and great regard for our country's freedom.
