The Stone Dogs 40k presents: The Stone Dogs - Chapter Three - Teeth in the Dark

The story of my homebrew Chapter of Space Marines continues - The Stone Dogs were created during the Second Founding following the breaking of the Legiones Astartes under the authority of the Codex Astartes, authored by Roboute Guilliman. Their gene-line derives from the V Legion, the White Scars, whose rapid redeployment during the Siege of Terra proved decisive. When the Legion was divided, a sizeable cadre—particularly Terran-born and siege-experienced veterans whose methods differed from Chogorian nomad traditions—formed the core of the new Chapter. Unlike their progenitors’ emphasis on mobility and open-war manoeuvre, the Stone Dogs developed a doctrine of: • Hardened defensive warfare • Deliberate counter-offensives • Void-siege and attrition engagements • Relentless, grinding advances under fire This doctrinal divergence was quietly encouraged by the High Lords, who wished for stable garrison Chapters in volatile frontier regions. The Stone Dogs maintain cordial but distant relations with the White Scars and have fought alongside them twice in recorded history—most notably during the closing years of the Indomitus Crusade.
