From Breaking a Promise to a Mother-in-Law to a Bitter Confrontation in the City

Today, Fatemeh plans to go into town after selling her collected recyclables to buy some necessary supplies. She tells the videographer that Hamzeh’s mother had promised to give her the recyclables back when she cleaned out her storage area, so she is going to ask for them now. Fatemeh goes and asks Hamzeh’s mother for the recyclables, but the woman refuses, saying, "I won't give them to you because you got my son thrown in jail." They sell the materials to a scrap dealer instead, and the grandmother forbids the money from being given to Fatemeh. After her unsuccessful attempt to get the money, Fatemeh heads into town to see if she can buy some household items. Upon arriving, she realizes she can only afford to buy a few small things. She considers buying clothes but changes her mind after seeing the prices, as she cannot afford them. While looking for a taxi to go home, she passes the greengrocer’s shop where Hamzeh used to work and decides to stop in for some vegetables. Inside, Hamzeh’s friend confronts her, asking why she sent Hamzeh to prison and complaining about how exhausted he is from working long hours alone. Fatemeh warns him that if he helps Hamzeh’s second wife or mother while Hamzeh is free, she will file a complaint against him.
