Спи под покровом Божией Матери — афонское ночное песнопение для беспомощных и утомлённых

🕯 Support the channel: https://ko-fi.com/MountAthosChants Your help allows us to create new chants and prayers. God bless you. *** Rest under the shelter of the Mother of God with Byzantine chant from Mount Athos, the Holy Mountain where Orthodox monks have kept prayer rising day and night for more than a thousand years. Deep, warm men's voices sing in Byzantine Greek, a cappella, with no instruments and no beat. A solo cantor is answered by the brotherhood while the monks hold the ison, a low sustained note beneath the melody, in the warm resonance of a stone church. The ancient modes of this Orthodox chant move slowly and evenly, an unhurried sound to lie down with at the end of a long day. You do not need to understand the Greek words for the prayer to reach you, because this Athonite prayer is offered for the helpless and the weary. The chants draw on the Theotokos, our refuge and protection, on Elijah resting beneath the juniper tree, on Jacob sleeping on a stone at Bethel, and on saints of the Holy Mountain such as Joseph the Hesychast and Maximos the Hut-Burner. Let this Greek Orthodox chant accompany your evening prayer, the Jesus Prayer whispered in the dark, or the last quiet minutes before sleep when your heart is anxious or tired. May the Mother of God cover you with her protection as you rest. 🕯️ #MountAthos #ByzantineChant #OrthodoxChant #GreekOrthodox #OrthodoxMonks #Theotokos #HolyMountain #SacredMusic #SleepMusic #JesusPrayer #Prayer #Peace
