In this video, we follow the Oktoberfest Train on North America’s highest non-cog, standard-gauge railroad: the Leadville Colorado & Southern Railroad. Originally built in the 1880s by the Denver, South Park & Pacific (DSP&P), this line has the claim to fame of being the home of the last revenue steam engine in a Class I freight service, Colorado & Southern 641
In 1987, the line was saved from the Burlington Northern abandoning it and was sold to a local family for $10 which included most of the rolling stock still in use today. Enjoy the views of trains operating above 10,000' above sea level!
