Forty years ago, I made three wishes on a dead monkey's paw. The first wish killed my son. The second brought him home. My wife never knew what I wished for the third time. Winter, 1949. A small mill town in Massachusetts. An old soldier comes in out of the storm with something he begs us not to keep: a shriveled paw that grants three wishes. We laugh. We wish for two thousand dollars. The next day, a man in a dark suit is pacing at our gate. An animated horror story adapted from "The Monkey's Paw" by W. W. Jacobs (1902, public domain).
