At the limits of what’s possible – LR 1700-1.0 and LTM 1650-8.1 in tandem lift mode │ Liebherr

During the construction of the new Horb high-level bridge, reinforcement plates weighing up to 102 tonnes had to be lifted approximately 65 metres onto the carriageway under construction. To achieve this, Wiesbauer deployed a Liebherr LR 1700-1.0 crawler crane and an LTM 1650-8.1 mobile crane in a precisely co-ordinated tandem lift. The challenging lifting operations took place in confined spaces between the River Neckar, the railway line and winding roads. Thanks to innovative Liebherr technologies such as VarioTray and V-Frame, as well as detailed operational planning, the steel plates weighing several tonnes were positioned with millimetre precision.
