Ryobi Bush Trimmer Has No Compression. Or is the Shear Key Broken? Model HT26

This bush trimmer was in the trash pile at the end of a neighbors driveway. I though it had no compression and was going to just do a video taking it apart to see where the failure was. To my surprise the recoil was turning the fly wheel and it was just the key on the shaft that had broker.
