Woodturning a Birdhouse

I have been making a birdhouse on the lathe, from a piece of scrap wood, I'm not sure what kind of wood this is, it's just a piece I found in the woods while walking the dog, the finish is baby oil, it can be stood up from the bottom or hung from the top, I'm supporting, www.ukiws.co.uk Mike, Martin and Steve.
