Digging Deep/Faith Clinic || 30th September 2026|| The Problem With Wealth || Text: I Timothy 6:6-8 NKJV | Deacon Kunle Philip. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH WEALTH?The Bible does not teach that possessing money or material wealth is automatically sinful.Abraham was wealthy.Job was wealthy.David had considerable resources.Solomon possessed enormous wealth.Yet Scripture also warns repeatedly about the spiritual dangers associated with riches. The issue is therefore not simply:“How much money do I have?”The deeper questions are:Who owns what I have?Where does my heart find security? What am I willing to do to obtain wealth? What do I do with the wealth God places in my hands?Has money become my master? “Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. ”I Timothy 6:6-8 NKJV Paul teaches that:godliness accompanied by contentment is great gain;we brought nothing into this world;we will take nothing out of it;therefore, believers should learn contentment with the necessities of life. This challenges the worldly philosophy that says:“I will finally be happy when I have more.”Biblical contentment says:“God is my source, and what He gives me is to be managed for His glory.” 2. THE WORLDLY MINDSET TOWARD MONEYThe lesson identifies one characteristic of a worldly-minded person as the desire to accumulate as much money as possible, even at the expense of others.“‘For among My people are found wicked men; They lie in wait as one who sets snares; They set a trap; They catch men. As a cage is full of birds, So their houses are full of deceit. Therefore they have become great and grown rich. They have grown fat, they are sleek; Yes, they surpass the deeds of the wicked; They do not plead the cause, The cause of the fatherless; Yet they prosper, And the right of the needy they do not defend. Shall I not punish them for these things?’ says the Lord. ‘Shall I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this?’”Jeremiah 5:26-29 NKJV
